Our Glass and Tile bits have also been designed with sharpened carbide that allows for faster tile drilling than standard glass and tile drill bits, along with a reinforced carbide head to provide increased durability in high speed drilling applications with drill drivers only. Sizes included in the 5 piece set; 1 x 4mm, 1 x 5mm, 2 x 6mm, 1 x 8mm.

- Vacuum brazed, self lubricating, wax filled diamond core drills.
- One piece hex shank.
- Suitable for drilling tiles, ceramics, vitrified products, porcelain, natural and composite / engineered stone, monocottura, fibreglass, graphite, carbon fibre, FRP’s, and other highly abrasive materials.
- The wax filled core lubricates the cutting edge allowing dry, water free, drilling.
- Apply spinning core drill to workpiece at an angle so that only the edge is engaged.
- As a small groove begins to form gradually move the drill until the saw is flat and fully engaged with the workpiece.
- Alternatively position the saw using a Bordo adjustable drilling template and commence drilling with the saw flat against the workpiece.
- Drilling using Bordo Brilliant Diamond Core Drills can be done dry however the use of water cooling may extend tool life.

BORDO Glass and Tile Drill (Spear Point Drill)
- Tungsten Carbide Glass and Tile Drill.
- These drills are designed for drilling glass, tile and other hard, brittle materials.
- The tungsten carbide spear point is extremely hard and features uniquely sharpened edges for fast penetration with a reduced need for end thrust.
- These drill bits cut clean round holes without chipping or material breakage, and work best with a lubricant such as water to extend bit life.
- When drilling multiple holes in ceramic tiles, or when drilling vitrified porcelain, we recommend using either Bordo ceramic tile drills, the Bordo mist drill product range or Brilliant Diamond core drills.
- Tungsten Carbide (commonly referred to as Carbide) is a chemical compound containing equal parts of tungsten and carbon atoms.
- Carbide is three times stiffer than steel and is much denser than either steel or titanium.
- Carbide has a very high abrasion resistance and can also withstand higher temperatures than standard HSS.
- Carbide tools are often used for machining hard materials such as ceramics and stainless steel, as well as in situations where other tools would wear away, such as high volume production runs.
- Because carbide tools maintain a sharp cutting edge better than other tools, they generally produce a better finish on parts, and their temperature resistance allows faster machining.
- Whilst tungsten carbide is extremely hard it is also brittle so it is important to avoid bit “chattering” as this is the most common cause of tool failure.
