BORDO MTS Bridge
- HSS Morse Taper Shank Tapered Spiral Flute Bridge Reamer
- Bridge reamers are used to create an aligned hole in a structural steel assembly. These reamers enlarge and align holes for rivets and bolts in structural steel members such as I-beams, angles, channels, and plates.
- The reamer is tapered for approximately half its FL allowing the reamer to enter out-of-line holes often encountered in structural work.
- All tools are constructed with left-hand spiral and right-hand cut.
- The left-hand spiral eliminates the tendency of the reamer to pull itself into the hole.
- In large structural assemblies, the holes are generally punched undersize and then reamed when in position.
- The idea is that the holes most likely will not line up within about 1/8″ when a fabricated 50 foot beam or column is finally put into place.
- Coolant or cutting tool lubricant should be utilitised when possible.
- Benefits include better finishes, superior tool life and the ability to increase speeds and feeds.
- Bridge reamers should be run at half the R.P.M. suggested for a corresponding twist drill size.
